Where it all begins...

In 6 short days I will be getting on a plane headed to Antigua, Guatemala. I will be there until December 16 doing a semester abroad program through Spring Arbor University. I have set up this blog to share my photos, thoughts, and experiences with family, friends, those considering a semester abroad and anyone else who is interested.

Paul and Bev Nemecek are both professors at Spring Arbor and moved to Antigua this summer to lead our program. This will be the first group from Spring Arbor to do a semester abroad there.  During this semester I will be taking 5 weeks of one-on-one Spanish lessons at La Union Spanish Language School.  I will also be taking a marketing class, a cross cultural class and doing a business practicum. Myself, as well as three other girls from Spring Arbor, will be living with a Guatemalan family in Antigua. Our group will be doing weekend excursions approximately every other weekend.  These will include: Guatemala City, Lake Atitlan (the deepest lake in Central America), Tikal (the ancient Mayan Ruins), the city of Puerto San Jose, San Antonio Caliente, La Azotea Cultural Center and more! Please feel free to follow along with me on this amazing adventure and share it with anyone you think may be interested! There will be more to come shortly! Adios!
